NATURAL SWIMMING POOL

A natural swimming pool has become a central feature of this garden and part of everyday life for the family who live here. The water is kept clean and clear through a filtration and pump system, aquatic planting within the surrounding regeneration areas, and the use of a skimmer, which means no chemicals are needed.

The planting not only helps to maintain the health of the pool but also provides year-round interest and creates an inviting habitat for wildlife. Frogs, dragonflies and many other aquatic species are now regular visitors, adding another layer of enjoyment to the garden.

The pool formed part of a complete redesign of the garden, rethinking both the layout and how the family use the space. The design included a new pergola for year-round outdoor living, additional planting, improved paths and circulation, a bespoke chicken coop softened by tall ornamental grasses and flowering perennials, practical bike storage, and a lawn large enough for summer camping. The garden's quirky outdoor bath was also given its own secluded setting, surrounded by planting to create a private and relaxing space.

This was an enjoyable and collaborative project from the initial design through to completion, resulting in a garden that is both practical and beautiful, and one that the family continues to enjoy every day.
